Wildcat brings Duke of Sussex to meet Royal Marines recruits

The Royal Marines standing to attention outside the Officers Mess knew His Royal Highness the Duke of Sussex was moments away.

Prince Harry arrived at the Royal Marines Commando Training Centre in Lympstone in one of two Navy Wildcat Maritime Attack Helicopters under blue skies and sunshine. Drawn from the Commando Helicopter Force, which provides crucial aerial support to the Royal Marines, they sound as fierce as they look.

Once the whirr of the blades had slowed to a stop, the prince, who assumed his role as Captain General Royal Marines in succession to his grandfather the Duke of Edinburgh in December, jumped out and strode towards the Officers Mess where he received a ceremonial welcome, looking happy and relaxed as he chatted to the Commandos.
